Missing Metadata in Volume Alignment Tools Output (cryoSPARC v4.5.3)

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed an issue with the Volume Alignment Tools job in cryoSPARC v4.5.3. Specifically, the output particles only include alignments3D and blob metadata, but critical information like particles.location is missing.

In previous cryoSPARC versions (e.g., v4.3.1), the Volume Alignment Tools job output included not only alignments3D and blob but also other metadata, such as particles.location. This allowed downstream jobs, like Particle Extraction, to run without issues. However, with the missing metadata in v4.5.3, the Particle Extraction job now fails.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a known workaround to ensure the necessary metadata is retained in the Volume Alignment Tools output?

Thank you for your insights!

Yes - I believe this is the same issue as here:

What I observed was that if you make a new job in 4.6.2 it correctly generates the metadata - but if you clone a job from before the upgrade, it does not. Is this what you observe?
