One of the features I have been wishing CS has is a azimuth/elevation “translator” so to speak for understanding preferred orientation. I ended up making one for the PDF summary generator ( PDF summary generator for Live sessions - #3 by tlevitz ) but it was surprisingly difficult to understand the inner workings (shout out to this thread which helped a lot: It's time I admit I don't know what Rodrigues vectors are , and ViewSelect [ GitHub - robertstass/ViewSelect · GitHub ]).
Usually you sort of know what lines up based on your 2D classes and/or particles, of course, but having something more explicit would be helpful. In a more dynamic space than a PDF, it could be just a mouse-over situation that orients the volume in a certain way? Anyways, just a thought of something I think my users, especially new users or people processing a new protein/complex, would really appreciate.
