Meaning of "current noise" in 2D classification

Hi,

I woudl like to understand what is the meaning of “current sigma”, "current noise and “initial sigma” in the following plot:

I observe that “current noise” always drops off at ~6 A in at least three different datasets I checked with very different properties (as in # of particles, protein size, etc) that converge to radically different resolutions in homogeneous refinement (between 7 A and 3 A).
