Delete extracted particles from live - did the functionality disappear in v5?

Hi,

I’m doing some regular data cleanups over here and always have to refer back to this post about how to clear just particle extractions from CS Live. However since this panel disappeared in v5, is there no way to do this anymore? I can of course clear from the terminal, but since CS doesn’t love when data disappears that it doesn’t know about, was wondering if there is a way to do it from the GUI. Am I missing a functionality somewhere? We often need to keep all the micrographs from live but don’t use the extracted particles.

Hi,

Our organisation is still on v4.7 but are looking ahead to getting v5 in place.

We make extensive use of the Session Datatab for selective removal of micrograph/particle stacks in order to maintain access to metadata and thumbnails for referencing and compliance, which is particularly important in an industrial setting.

That feature was recently marked to be deprecated in a future version. We and others on the forum have expressed our preference to continue maintaining it. Is v5 said future version? I may have missed it in the release notes.

Cheers,
Yang

Yep, see here: Guide: CryoSPARC Live Session Data Management (≤v4.7) | CryoSPARC Guide

I see. Thank you. That’s disappointing.

We’ll have to spin up a backend shell solution to monkey-patch and regain oversight and functionality.

Cheers,
Yang

Thanks @tlevitz @leetleyang for the feedback. We intended Session Compaction to replace the Session Data management tool. We realize that session compaction would remove some data that you would be interested in preserving and will consider your feedback for the future development of CryoSPARC.
