blob pick 20 micrographs. generate 2D from that. use these (AWFUL, sometimes circular) 2Ds to do template picking. you will note that regardless of 2D quality, the picking will be much improved and without bias. this whole process takes 5 minutes, I do it at the onset of every data collection in Cryosparc Live

Thank you all for the suggestions. I can see significant improvement of the number of good particles and the details of the map after both refinement and NU refinement now, after reprocessing the dataset.
