For large particles in thick ice, the water ring seems to interfere with estimation of the CTF fit resolution at higher spatial frequencies, event when if one looks at the 1D PS if appears there are well-modeled Thon rings at higher resolution.
I think the answer to this questions involves information about
- What form is the CTF using at 0.25, with the knots, etc for the envelope
- Why/how exactly does the CTF flatten out and then pick up
- What happens downstream when this particle is used in 3D reconstruction
- How is
ctf_stats/fit_data_path
used downstream
