Volume tools - negative dilation radius does not work as expected

I would like to use the volume tools to shrink an existing mask (after looking at the results of local refinement).

I expected that a negative value for dilation radius would do the trick, but it seems that negative values are sort of ignored - they do shrink the mask, sort of, but only up until the threshold value (even if I put in a crazy value like -50). And the soft edge then seems to be ignored - a hard binary mask is generated, even if a soft edge is input.

Hi @olibclarke,

Unfortunately we haven’t tested using negative dilation radii for eroding masks, so this makes sense that the behaviour when using negative values isn’t correct. This would definitely be a useful feature though, and we will consider it in a future release!
