Volume tools feature request - show intermediate map slice

Hi,

When using volume tools to make a mask, often I want to first filter the input map, then threshold it to make a mask. Volume tools does both of these operations sequentially, but does not show slices of the intermediate lowpass filtered map in the log. It would be useful if it did, as it would enable one to more easily judge what threshold to use.
