Perfect icosahedral symmetry

Dear all,
I have a map from an icosahedral particle and would like to ask how I could get a perfectly symmtric map after the reconstruction, ie, one in which the map of a protomer is averaged over the 60 copies and is exactly the same for each of them.
Best,
Xavier

Impose icosahedral symmetry during refinement? Or am I misunderstanding your request?

No, I would like to end up having a perfectly symmetric map, with the density for each protomer being exactly the same. Currently, even imposing symmetry “I” throughout the process of reconstruction, the final map is very similar though not identical for all the subunits.

Hi @xgrcri! If the remaining asymmetry is very small, you may be looking at interpolation artifacts. I explain this a bit more in this post.
