Particle re-extraction without redoing CTF estimation

Hi there,

I have performed both Patch motion correction and Full frame motion correction. I want to re-extract my particles from the Full frame motion correction, to see if there are any differences in resolution. If I don’t perform the CTF estimation on the full frame motion corrected micrographs, will there be any issues to my downstream processing? When I ran the Extract Mics job, the log says since the Particles already have CTF estimation, these will not be modified. So I would assume that I cannot connect the new CTF estimation to the existing particle anyways?

No issues - the particles will retain the CTF estimates they already have by default.

If you did want to run a new Patch CTF job and obtain the new estimates at the particle positions, you could do this using the Patch CTF Extract job I believe.
