With one of my recent datasets I am getting seeing noise model error that I have not seen before. Has anyone else seen this? Any insights into what might be causing the error model to become an ellipse?

@mhuntergi sorry this post got lost since last year! Have you had any insight to explain this?
One possible cause might be if you had preferred orientations, then some directions in the 3D structure would have more signal than others, yielding higher noise in some directions than others…
Another possibility is if there is a strong consistent directional bias in the stage drift that is ocurring in the microscope - this would, after motion correction, yield higher noise in one direction than another in the images themselves, and that bias would remain consistent in the particles.
