Would be great to be able to use a mask in heterogeneous refinement. With small membrane proteins, we do this often and it would be nice to be able to do everything inside cryosparc without having to export to relion.
Thanks!

100% agreed, especially with the ability to restrict or eliminate alignment. Heterogeneous local refinement with non uniform regularization would be the dream I think…
Hi, I also want to use a mask in the heterogeneous refine. Will this function be available soon?
Thank you!
Just wish the team could add this feature in future. We have a 60kD rod like protein, with 120A x 50A, making the processing very challenging just using a sphere mask. Thank you!
Thanks @parrot , this is definitely on our radar and your +1 to the request is recorded :).
Thank you! I’m also wondering whether adding mask feature to ab initio is doable? It should be helpful for processing small rod like protein.
@parrot – a cylindrical mask option will be available in ab-initio in an upcoming release which should help this exact use case!
