Local resolution estimation issue

Hello

I am creating a local resolution map. The resolution seems to be right in the transmembrane regions, but some low resolution regions are shown as high resolution (blue region). This behavior is odd and I have not experienced it earlier. Is it calculating the resolution wrong or is it because of some masking issue?
I am on cryosparc 5.06.

Did you try estimating local resolution across the entire volume (ie not within mask only)?

Thanks @peter.cherepanov
I have tried estimating with and without a mask, they are quite similar with the low resolution blob depicted as high resolution.

Hi @Ishan,

Did you use any non-default parameters for the local resolution estimation job?

When you displayed colored the surface of your map with the color map, did you happen to reverse it? See the surface color GUI docs for ChimeraX.

Best,
Kye

the map and the local resolution entity need to be automatically well-aligned. if you move the local res entity then you can paint the map a whole different way. So make sure you open a fresh Chimera and don’t have any issues with coordinates. Z-flip would cause an issue in painting.
