We are speccing a new server for cryoSPARC Live and looking for some performance metrics. We currently have 2x Live systems, both to be replaced. One current system has 6x 2080Tis and the other 4x 1080Tis. We setup these systems that we have extra GPUs for pre-processing so we can keep up with data collection.
I’m currently looking at 6x RTX 4000s (Ada). But if I could keep it to 4x GPUs that would give us more options for the setup.
Question:
Looking at current GPUs, do we need multiple GPUs to keep up with our Krios/K3 at up to 500 mics per hour?
Does the lower bandwidth of the Ada GPUs affect pre-processing?
How much CPU would I need for this setup? Can I get away with a single EPYC?
The GPU server will be attached to fast storage (Pansasas) and will have plenty of NVME and RAM on board. Could I have for example 1x RTX 4500 (for pre processing) and 3x RTX 4000?
I’m tempted to keep it simple and just load up 6-8x low-end GPUs.
