Hi all,
I have been trying to import movies for the Helical processing tutorial using EMPIAR-10031 (MAVS) but it looks like cryosparc cannot read the gain reference files. I keep getting the error, ValueError: Could not read mrc data.
Has anyone had any luck importing these movies, and if yes, can you direct me on how to go about importing the movies? Thanks.

From some quick testing, I’m not sure the .mrc included is needed as a gain reference as it does not appear to be necessary for decent looking micrographs… the background varies from movie to movie. Try importing and processing with no gain reference?
It’s working without that gain reference file. I’m sure that may affect corrections later on but hopefully I’m able to still get the tutorial done. Thank you.
Unless the gain reference corrects major nasties present on each image, it’ll have less impact that you expect, I think. 
edit: If really that worried, you can make your own gain reference using RELION or cisTEM. I believe the “make gain reference” feature request for CryoSPARC is still in the queue for a future release.
