CS 2.9: alignment missing after importing starfile with angles but not rlnRandomSubset

Hi! We are importing a relion star file that has 3D alignment information but not the rlnRandomSubset field. File is not comming straight from relion thus the missing field.

CS imports the particles but without the alignment:

Warning: The input star file does not contain rlnAngleRot, rlnAngleTilt, rlnAnglePsi, rlnOriginX, rlnOriginY, rlnRandomSubset. Output will not contain particle orientations.

All of the listed fields in the warning are present except for rlnRandomSubset.

If I’m right, rlnRandomSubset, does not hold any alignment information, so theoretically, CS could import those particles with 3d alignment information regardless of the presence/absence of rlnRandomSubset.

Is this something you are able/willing to change?

Why not just add a random subset?

(Seems like a bug though).

Yep, we’ve thought about it. And we’ll do it, I was just reporting it here.
