Use empirical dose weights with local motion correction?

Hi,

Currently, empirical dose weights from RBMC can be supplied to Patch Motion, but not (or at least not directly) to local motion correction.

Does local motion correction inherit empirical dose weights supplied to the ancestral patch motion job? or does it take the entered dose from Patch Motion and weight based on that?

Sometimes (for large particles with plenty of signal) local motion correction gives better results than RBMC (and doesn’t discard particles, which can be important for sparse samples), so it would be nice to be able to use the empirical dose weights from RBMC to give it an extra boost.

Cheers

Hi @olibclarke, local motion can’t use empirical dose weights at all right now. You could try using the Apply Trajectories job with local motion trajectories and dose weights from RBMC as a workaround. But, how often are you seeing that local motion outperforms RBMC? Could it be purely due to the loss of particles, or do you think that the motion estimates are truly better in local motion? I would not expect that to be the case ever.

entirely possible that it might have been because it wasn’t discarding particles. Apply trajectories should work to test, thanks!
