A user of mine is trying to pick particles using the Template Picker in Live with templates from a previous project. He was able to load and select existing templates, but it appears CS Live is looking within the current project directory for the .mrc files instead of within the external directory. He swapped to blob picking and will generate internal templates, which I imagine will work, but I will update if not.

Current project: P623
Sorry for the absolutely terrible screenshot of the error – forgot to get anything better before he started the blob picking. The error “No such file or directory” but is looking in today’s folder (20260318) instead of the folder from P623. I can recreate it tomorrow if you need more info.

The current capability to edit the Project ID field in this context is a bug; loading of templates from outside the current project is, unfortunately, not supported.
May we suggest exporting the template result group from the other project and importing it to the current one?
Oh, interesting – this feature was taken away from previous versions, as this is always how we have used template picking in the past! The templates loaded and were picked fine, but then just looked for them in the wrong place when loading again.
We can start doing the export and import though. I know there is an emphasis on keeping everything self-contained if other sessions are exported or deleted. Thanks for the update.
Also just confirmed with a user that hasn’t updated yet that the functionality was indeed present and fully worked in v4 and previous. We miss it and would love to have it back – it’s a lot of steps to upload a few .mrcs – but appreciate the workaround.
Although it would be nice to have the old functionality back!
