Hello CryoSPARC users!
We’ve added a new post to the CryoSPARC Blog! This time, we’re digging deeper into decoy classification as a strategy for particle curation directly in 3D.
Particle curation does not always need to happen through 2D Classification. In particular, when underrepresented views are difficult to retain during 2D class selection, decoy classification with Heterogeneous Refinement can provide an alternative approach for separating particles from junk while preserving valuable views.
In this post, we cover what decoy classification is and how it works, examples of scenarios where it can be useful to skip 2D Classification for particle curation, and how to implement the strategy in practice. We also explore different ways to generate, choose, or reuse the reference and decoy volumes needed to get started!
