"Maximum resolution for sharpening" removed from Local Filtering job

Hello,

I noticed “Maximum resolution for sharpening” is no longer an option for local filtering in cryosparc v5. It is still listed as an option in the cryosparc guide.

Thanks @YazanAbbas for reporting this observation.
The Maximum resolution for sharpening parameter was not being used by the job internally and consequently removed from the UI in CryoSPARC v5.
Please let us know if you encounter a use case where Maximum resolution for sharpening would be useful.

I was using it for the purpose described in the user guide as it was reducing noise in locally filtered maps. Our team only recently upgraded to cryosparc v5, I was using it regularly before that.

Did cryosparc v5 update or improve local filtering to obviate the need for setting a maximum resolution?

Thanks @YazanAbbas .

Even in CryoSPARC v4, where the Maximum resolution for sharpening parameter could be specified in the UI, the parameter was not used internally and should have had no effect. Have you tried running a new (v5) Local Filtering job that resembles (in terms of inputs and parameters, aside from the omission of Maximum resolution for sharpening parameter) one of your v4 Local Filtering jobs and compared the output?

Thanks for clarifying, I didn’t realize it was a vestigial parameter.
